Make S3 archive and restore work understandable, reviewable, and safe across teams. We believe the control plane should preserve context—who acted, what was selected, what was verified, and where the work ran—without becoming the custodian of customer data.
Built from the operational sharp edges
The product is shaped around the moments that make archive work risky: deleting a source too early, discovering restore gaps too late, losing worker logs, sharing credentials too broadly, and letting team permissions drift away from real blast radius.
Company facts
Glacier Backups started as a side project: the spreadsheet-and-scripts habit of an engineer who kept getting called in whenever an S3 bucket went sideways—missing files, mystery charges, folders nobody remembered creating. Rather than write another one-off script, we built a tool to actually see what was inside a bucket, catch duplicates before they hit the bill, and clean house without the 3 AM dread. Word got around, and that side project became Glacier Backups—now home to Data Convoy and GNAS.
